Early Intervention / Help Me Grow
Early Intervention
The County Board of MRDD collaborates with many county agencies in
a State of Ohio mandated program called “Help Me Grow.” After
assessments and evaluations, when children are found eligible for
MRDD services, the Highland County Board of MRDD serves families
with children birth to age 3 years and provides home-based services.
Families and teachers work together in this program to foster growth
in communication, coordination, social skills and cognitive skills.
This program gives each child a good foundation for future school or
preschool programs.
When a child becomes 2 ½ years old, the school district in
which the child resides if informed that the child is receiving
services from the County Board, so that a seamless transition to
preschool services can be made.
Help Me Grow is the name for services in Ohio for
children ages zero to three who are at-risk of developing delays or
who have identified disabilities or diagnosed medical conditions.
Service coordination and family support are hallmarks of the Help
Me Grow Program. Direct, home-based services are provided as
recommended through the developmental evaluation process and the
Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP).
The IFSP is developed to address the needs of the
child and the family. The Early Intervention Specialist coordinated
the eligibility process and the services of the early intervention
team.
